Biography

Born in Madrid at the end of the 70s, Adolf Marsan started his musical voyage at the tender age of 16. after a period of time used to explore and evaluate different styles of electronic music he was drawn towards house music and has since then produced house music, most especially tech house, although we should add that his own particular style encompasses techno, trance, breakbeat and many other differing and opposal styles including but not limited to ethnic music and jazz fusion. At present Adolf Marsan is resident DJ in BATAVIA CLUB based in the South of Madrid, a club renowned for it's underground roots and with a respected status within the Spanish club scene. Adolf records under his own name as well as releasing side projects such as Mr Free (Architedhouse and A Personal Difference are just two of the many releases under this name) and recently he has released on the Intenso Recordings label as Ranses with the very hard and very good 'F*cking Jungle' which was played by people as important as Carl Cox to mention just one name. As a DJ, he is as imaginative and exciting as his productions would lead you to imagine. His sessions with numerous international DJs in Spain bear witness to his unique skills as a DJ where he marries first class technical skills with first rate feeling for his audience and the club. He literally holds the crowd in the palm of his hand and crushes them with the sheer weight and pace of the music, leaving them begging for more. And, needless to say, there is always more. Apart from the BATAVIA CLUB Adolf is also a regular in such legendary Madrid clubs as HOME and LOVE SHOW where crowds of up to 9000 people travel to see him. His first releases as Adolf Marsan came in 2001 with Beat Freak Recordings with 'Output', a track which received immediate acclaim and was a favourite track with many international DJs. After the release of 'Moonland', Adolf decided to create the alter ego Mr Free to literally free himself from the pressures that the name Adolf Marsan now held. Mr Free was to be a cool, underground and experimental project with small sales but something happened along the way and suddenly Mr Free was in the record boxes and on the lips of people like SATOSHI TOMIE, ROBBIE RIVIERA, DYLAN DRAZEN, ECHO MEN etc. Recent projects include the track Licantropo which is as yet unreleased but causing a storm on the underground as it forms an integral part of sessions from people like D-Formation, Victor Calderone. Everyone is asking what is that track with the flute?! Now, Adolf has just started his own label called Kamastutra Recordings. The fourth release is out now and there are some great surprises in store. As a producer and DJ, Adolf Marsan is undoubtedly one of the finest in the world, perhaps more eclectic than many of his peers, he prefer to travel off the beaten track and really explore musical forms and styles. It is perhaps this quality that makes him so unique and a must see for any clubber any where in the world. If Plastikman were a House DJ he would probably want to sound like Adolf Marsan.
